Veritas: A Look Back at 2020

2020 has been a challenging year, especially for the energy industry. Despite these challenges, we collaborated with our clients to help them achieve new levels of success – even in a remote environment. Over the last 200+ days working from home, we accomplished great things, learned a lot, and gained invaluable perspectives for the blessings that 2020 brought. Below are some of the Veritas 2020 highlights.

In our end of year video, we thank our clients, partners and employees for their agility, drive and dedication. Watch our team share the new perspective 2020 has brought them and what they are thankful for this year.

Our 2020 highlights include:

Launched four major CTRM Go-Lives during a pandemic

During this time, we had four successful CTRM implementations/upgrades for major international energy companies. All had Go-Lives scheduled for the later part of 2020. When the pandemic hit, our clients had to decide if it was efficient and realistic to continue these large CTRM implementations or put them on hold. Ultimately, each client decided to move forward. We quickly adapted to new ways of working in a remote environment and were able to maintain the original project timeline. Many new challenges presented themselves. However, we were able to adapt, evolve and learned along the way.

Welcomed new clients

Not only did our engagements with existing clients continue, we were also able to engage with several new clients including a renewables company, a super major, and other notable organizations across the energy value chain. Each client had very different needs from help with risk assessments and front office support, to business and digital roadmaps, to educational workshops on commodity-specific areas. We have enjoyed working with our new friends and colleagues and look forward to growing our relationships with them.

Welcomed new employees

We are humble and grateful to have the opportunity to bring on new talent during this challenging year. We welcomed Bridget Frilot, Chin Tan, Candace Keegan, Jon Kyer, Dave Smith and Guillermo Lash taking Veritas’ all-star roster to new heights. As a group, they strengthen us in all our core areas: CTRM systems (Allegro, RightAngle, Endur, TriplePoint, Enuit, Eka, etc.), trading & risk advisory, digital technology and strategy & transformation. We are thrilled to welcome each one of them to the Veritas team!

Launched a successful CTRM webinar series

This fall, we launched our first webinar series. The CTRM webinar series included 5 webinars focused on the unique stages of the CTRM journey. We started with system selection, covered preparing for implementation and Go-Live and ended with post Go-Live support including stabilization and optimization. Each webinar featured two Veritas consultants who competed in three rounds. The audience was able to patriciate by voting on who delivered it best.

We also hosted a post-show podcast to address the unanswered questions from the webinar. To watch the on-demand webinars or listen to the post-show podcasts, go to our main CTRM webinar series page for links to the individual webinars and podcasts.

Spoke at our first virtual conferences

This is our 2nd year to partner with Alpha Insight and CCRO for the Energy Risk Trading Conference. Last fall, we sponsored a traditional, in-person event in Houston. This year was a bit different. The conferences were online. We sponsored and spoke at 2 different virtual events. Mike Burger spoke to front/middle office perspectives in June and August Al-Uqdah introduced the Veritas Value Curve (that also served as an anchor in the CTRM webinar series) in November. We were gracious to have one of our clients speak on both panels, Chris David from Repsol. The on-demand version is available for the June webinar and if you are interested in learning more about the Value Curve, contact us.

Gave back to those in need

Every year, Veritas participates in the YMCA Angel Tree Toy Drive and we made no exceptions this year. We adopted over 40 children and provided them with all their holiday wish list gifts. In true 2020 fashion, we accomplished all of the shopping virtually and shipped our gifts to a central place to be organized and delivered to the YMCA.

This year brought new needs to our community. Local food banks were diminished. Front line workers were risking their lives for others. We wanted to support both and give back to the Houston community. We held an employee fundraiser, raising over $2,000 which was 100% matched by Veritas. We provided 60 front line workers at the VA Hospital with lunch in May and donated over $3,000 to the Houston Food Bank where every $1 provides 3 meals for those in need…that is over 9,000 meals! We are grateful for our amazing employees that were able to contribute and help toward these causes.

Here's to 2021!

With the year coming to an end, we reflect on the good that came from 2020. We had our own set of challenges but focused on the good and look forward to a new year with new promise and opportunities. Wishing everyone happiness and health in 2021!
