What Breaking the Bias Means To Us

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. This year’s campaign theme is #BreakTheBias. The theme supports a gender equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

At Veritas, we pride ourselves on our diverse culture. We believe collaboration including women and diversity yields better results. Over 40% of our leadership team is female, which is great compared to our competitors and industry norms. Of course, there’s always room to improve. We are always looking at ways to maintain an inclusive culture free of gender-bias and bias in general.

In an effort to raise awareness about gender-bias and to celebrate the achievements of women at Veritas, we asked some of our employees to share their thoughts on how our company plays an active role in breaking gender biases.

"We combat bias at Veritas by being ambassadors wherever we are by letting our actions speak louder than our words." –Diayane Aguirre, Associate

"Veritas and Veritas clients do not discriminate against gender. Participation is encouraged from everyone and Veritas is intentional about partnering with other respectful organizations!"–Myra Suarez, Sr. Manager

"Veritas supports a gender-bias free culture and celebrates women by actively participating in industry events geared toward women. We have attended and spoken at many women-specific events including WEN luncheons, Rice Women in Leadership conference, HBJ Mentoring Monday, Women’s Offshore Conference and more! Our people and culture have also been recognized and celebrated through awards like Houston Business Journal's Best Places to Work, Delfina Govia's Wave Maker Award, and Janette Lindner's Women Who Mean Business Award." –Natalie Marshall, Sr. Marketing Manager

"At Veritas, we have leaders that champion healthy, honest, and sometimes difficult discourse about unconscious bias in a constructive manner." Tina Ngo, Analyst

"The thing that Veritas does best is inclusivity. Proof of this is through our open-door policy and our blended leadership team." –Bridget Frilot, Sr. Manager

"I’ve been in the industry for 40 years and have seen women devalued or overlooked for certain roles due to their gender. I’m proud to say things have improved and it’s come a long way. Veritas’ leadership team is 40% female which is above where other consulting firms are and that's something to be proud of." –Susan Richardson, Director

"Veritas breaks gender bias through open dialogue and a speak-up culture. We place a strong focus on delivery, championing results, and creating a workplace in which women naturally thrive." –Amber Storey, Director

"We have women leaders at Veritas who are wonderful examples of women champions. They recognize unconscious bias toward male partners, are strong leaders, not afraid to talk about it and someone to look up to." –Susana Purin, Associate

We ask that today, you reflect on what your company does and what you do as an individual to #breakthebias. Celebrate the achievement of women around you and ask your peers what we can all do to create an inclusive world that is free from biases.

At Veritas, we encourage collaboration, female inclusion and diversity. Our workforce is approximately 40% female, higher than the industry average of 25%, with employees representing multiple nationalities. Our differences fuel our innovative way of thinking. For questions about our culture or for more information on our services, contact info@veritasts.com.
